Winter Market at Mahoney’s in Winchester

Come January when the snow is up past a gnome’s hat here in New England I’ll be particularly thankful for the winter markets that connect citizens with local produce and food items. Brand new to the Boston area winter market scene is Mahoney’s Garden Center in Winchester.

Starting mid-January the garden center will play host to a variety of vendors selling local food items as well as some crafty items like wearable fiber (think knitted and crocheted scarves). The Somerville Winter Farmer’s Market is in its second year and has already started, I hear rumors they are improving the parking options for those who don’t live in Somerville and need to use a car to get to the market instead of a bike. Not that winter is enormously bike-friendly anyway, but better parking can’t be a bad thing.
